AnaB custom beauty packaging: a full-colour mailer for online orders and a foil-stamped rigid box for the gift set

A Japanese skincare brand selling in Hong Kong needed two packs: a mailer that survives delivery and looks like the brand on opening, and a gift box that feels premium in hand. A botanical full-colour mailer with a printed inside and a black rigid box with a foil-only logo did it.

AnaB custom beauty packaging: a full-colour mailer for online orders and a foil-stamped rigid box for the gift set

TL;DR

AnaB used a botanical full-colour mailer box with an inner print and crinkle paper for deliveries, and a black lid-and-base rigid box with a foil-only logo and foam insert for the gift set, so online orders and gifts share one identity. From 100 pieces.

THE CLIENT

This is a typical custom beauty packaging project. AnaB was developed in Japan in 1982 around plant-extract technology, with the line "lazy but beautiful" for busy city skincare. In Hong Kong the brand sells online and as gift sets, so it needed a shipping pack and a gift pack that share one identity while doing very different jobs.

The print is sharp, with hardly any colour difference.

PACKAGING DECISIONS

Choosing beauty packaging: what we chose, and why

01

Custom full-colour mailer box: the shipping box is the shop window

Why

For an online order the mailer is the first physical contact with the brand. Botanical line drawings of the plant ingredients cover every face on matte white card in CMYK, so the box explains the product before it is opened. The corrugated structure protects glass bottles in the courier bag.

For your product

If most sales are online, the mailer deserves the design budget before any retail box. Full-colour print on a mailer costs less than a separate gift wrap and is seen by every customer.

02

Print the inside of the lid and cushion with crinkle paper: the unboxing is designed, not left to chance

Why

When the lid lifts, the inside reads "Lazy But Beautiful" with the hashtag #AnaBHK and the brand's social handles, and the bottles sit in a bed of crinkle paper. The photo customers take is composed for them, and the hashtag tells them where to post it.

For your product

Inside print on a mailer is a second colour pass, not a second box. Add one line and a hashtag; it is the cheapest marketing surface you own.

03

Black lid-and-base rigid box with a foil-only logo for the gift set

Why

The gift set had to feel like the price. A rigid lid-and-base box in black card carries no print at all: the AnaB logo and "skincare from Tokyo" are hot-stamped, so the finish is the texture of the paper and the shine of the foil. Less on the surface reads as more in the hand.

For your product

For premium beauty, a coloured board plus one foil beats a printed box. You pay for the greyboard and the stamping die once; the wrap paper colour can change per season.

04

A foam insert cut to the two bottles

Why

Glass bottles in a rigid box need to be held, not just boxed. A black foam insert is die-cut to the exact silhouettes of the two products, so nothing moves in transit and the set presents itself when the lid comes off.

For your product

Send us the products or their exact dimensions and the insert is cut to fit. Foam suits glass and heavy items; a paper insert is the lighter, recyclable choice for cartons and jars.

Beauty and skincare packaging: what this means for your product

Three moves from this case that transfer directly:

  • Skincare and cosmetics sold online

Full-colour mailer with an inside print line and hashtag. It is the box every customer sees.

  • Gift sets and premium lines

Coloured card, no print, one foil. Spend on the board and the insert instead.

  • Perfume, serums, anything in glass

A die-cut foam insert from your bottle dimensions. Nothing arrives rattling.

QUESTIONS

Should a beauty brand start with the mailer or the gift box?+

Start with the pack every customer receives. For an online brand that is the mailer: full-colour print and an inside message cost little and reach everyone. Add the rigid gift box once there is a set or a season to sell.

What foil colours work on black card?+

Gold, rose gold, silver and copper all read clearly on black; matte foils give a quieter look than gloss. AnaB used a dark metallic so the logo appears as texture rather than a bright mark. We send foil swatches with the paper samples.

Foam insert or paper insert for bottles?+

Foam holds glass and heavy items tightly and looks premium in a rigid box. Paper inserts are lighter, recyclable and cheaper, and suit cartons, jars and products that are not fragile. Both are cut to your product's dimensions.
