Hashtag B custom bakery packaging: one set of boxes and bags that keeps a fresh-baked brand intact from counter to home

THE CLIENT

This is a typical custom bakery packaging project. Hashtag B redefines Hong Kong-style baking with organic ingredients, little sugar and salt, no colouring or preservatives, and batches baked by hand every day. Everything is sold fresh at the counter, so the packaging has to work at speed: hold heat and grease, stack, carry, and still look like the brand on the way home and in a social feed.

Choosing bakery packaging: what we chose, and why

Custom auto-lock bottom carton for egg tarts: barrier film inside, a paper tray that doubles capacity

Why

An egg tart goes into the box hot. Steam softens plain card within minutes, so the inside of the box is lined with a protective film that keeps the carton crisp and the tart as it left the oven. The auto-lock bottom pops open in one motion at the counter, and a paper tray inside holds a second layer, so one box carries twice the tarts.

For your product

Anything served warm or oily, tarts, pastries, fried snacks, needs a barrier layer, not just thicker card. Ask for the film or a food-grade coating at quote stage; it changes the price less than a reprint does.

A pastry box built around the croissant, not a stock size

Why

Croissants are wide, light and crush easily. The box was drawn from the pastry outwards: footprint, height and opening all follow the product, and the material was chosen for grease resistance. A stock box would have left the pastry sliding around or flattened at the lid.

For your product

If your hero product has an awkward shape, price a custom structure before settling for a stock box. From 100 pieces the difference is often small, and the product stops arriving damaged.

Custom white kraft paper bags: two big marks, one mascot, and the bag does the advertising

Why

The bag is what walks out of the shop and down the street. Instead of a small logo, the whole face carries a single oversized hashtag or b in the brand green and orange, with the mascot peeking round it. White kraft keeps the colours clean, and twisted paper handles suit the price point of bread.

For your product

On a paper bag, one huge element beats a busy layout: it is read from across the street. Two or three flat colours on white kraft is the sweet spot for cost and shelf impact.

A small paper bag for egg waffles: the eat-now product gets its own branded sleeve

Why

Egg waffles are bought on the smell and eaten within minutes, so a box is wasted. A small paper bag in the brand colours with the illustration on the outside is enough to hold it, and it is the product most likely to be photographed on the street.

For your product

Match the packaging to how long the product lives. Eat-now items want the cheapest branded carrier; take-home items justify the box. Splitting them this way usually lowers the total packaging bill.
